Another Game another Hot n Cold

It's kind of bizarre, but it seems every car ride after my intramural basketball games, I hear the song Hot n Cold from Katy Perry. Is this coincidence or do they really play this song that much? I have to admit it's kind of catchy.

Apparently this is the same Katy Perry who sings that kissing girl song. The beat of that song reminds of the Buckeyes. I don't know the song's name, but it's not Hang on Sloopy.

So someone told me she used to be a Christian singer and then that didn't work out, so she went mainstream and is having a lot of success. What if she became this really popular Christian singer? Would things have turned out differently? I'm not saying she's not a good Christian because she sings about kissing girls, but can we agree her focus has changed? Or maybe success was her main goal and this is what she wanted.

So better to show your true colors or hide behind a pretense? Not sure. I guess I'm hot n cold on the matter...not funny, i know.

Why do we want the things we want? When people think of glory we often think of visibly grandiose things, but what if I don't want to be followed by papprazzi, but I want everyone to think of as aweseom or brillant at this or that--a subtle ploy for glory. Could this be even worse?

Offical Timeout

Could it be in basketball an "official timeout" is actually for the referees to rest. I thought about this for a moment and it could be true. Amazing.

baseball

Isn't suspicious that the season the Devil Rays become the Rays, they reach the postseason for the very first time.  Not only that, success always brings fans, and the Rays fanbase was absymal.

I don't think there is a connection, but just saying.

I've noticed I don't really like baseball anymore, which ironic because it was my best sport growing up.  They didn't call me Grand Slam Sam for nothing.  Debbie always said that she thought it was funny how these random country kids would chant for this pudgy bald Asian kid as he rounded the bases.  Truly, those were the days--random farm boys calling my name.

Really kind of enjoying Downhere's latest-- "Ending is Beginning."  I've never been a huge fan of them, but I've been intrigued by a few of their songs in the past, especially Protest to Praise.  I like the two singer thing going on here.  Sometime you want a mellow crooner or bombastic tenor and you get both with this group.  Sometimes a bit too CCM for me, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Lincoln Brewster's new one, "Today is the Day," is at its best when it's just the instruments.  His guitar work is pretty compelling for a worship album.  When he gets to the actual words and melody though i lose some interest.  It's kind of strange this way.  Usually, it's the other way around.  The track "Give Him Praise" is a bowl full of cherries.
